Ok, ok BAND OF THE DAY IS BACK! I'm not busy anymore, and I hope I'm not too busy this week, so this feature should be alive and kicking onces again. Todays band of the day is The White Stripes because some people seem to have very WRONG views of them. I first fell in love with them in early 2002 and I've never looked back. I even did a report on Jack as my hero two years ago in 8th grade. I'll review all four albums here for you so you can have a grasp on their genous. The White Stripes (self titled) - WOW! This is probably in the top 10 albums ever in existance. "Jimmy the Exploder" kicks off the album and you're just like 'Woah dude, this effing rocks!' Jack's voice is so unique and amazing, I just adore it. "Cannon" is awesome, it's really obscure and odd but it's a good song if you're pissed off to listen to. "Broken Bricks" is my probably my favorite song on the album. It's so awesome, the riff is so just, ah... I can't even explain how much is rules. You just gotta hear it to understand how rockin it really is. "Screwdriver" is so rad, and it's the first White Stripes song ever written so you gotta love it. "Slicker Drips" hells yes! Another rockin song, the part at the end where it speeds up is so cool, they do that a lot live, mess with the speed of the song. And finally "St. James Infirmary Blues" is a brilliant cover, I have no idea why, but I really love this song. It's so cool and the piano part is effing rad, I want to learn it so bad. And that my friends is the first album in a nutshell. De Stijl - We start off with "You're Pretty Good Looking for a Girl" which is not a bad start to an album if I do say so myslef. "Hello Operator" is very cool. De Stijl has more of a blues feel then the rest of the albums. This song has some cool lyrics too. "Apple Blossom" is such a great song, it takes the music from "St. James Infirmary Blues" and it's put behind a really sweet song. "I'm Boudn to Pack It Up" this song is a softer one, Jack's voice is really nice and hushed on it. And those are my favs from De Stijl. White Blood Cells - Ah yes, when the fame of Jackie and Meg truely took off. Of course it begins with "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" which of course has one of my fav lyrics "soft hair and a velvet toungue" now come on, that's hot. "Hotel Yorba" heck yes! Haha, I'm sure none of you would actually like this song, so I'll just move on. I suppose I have to mention "Fell In Love With A Girl" which is infact the first Stripes song I ever heard. It is very catchy and I adore it, but it's been kinda tainted by the media for me. So I dunno... I have mixed feelings about it. "Little Room" is just about the coolest song in the world, 'nuff said. "We Are Gonna Be Friends" is the only Stripes song my mom likes, we watched Napoleon Dynamite yesterday and she got all excited and started singing with it, but didn't know the words. It was kinda funny. I hit the jackpot at 3:00 am one morning and got the video for this recorded. Now it's on the DVD, but at the time you totally couldn't find it anywhere and it was on Senior Moby's House of Music (why'd they stop showing that, it ruled) Anways... moving on. "I Can't Wait" veeeeeeeeeery cool song, it's a bit on the pop side, but I love it just the same. "Now Mary" is so awesome, if makes me wanna dance, and that is an accomplishment. Elephant - I've made it known that Elephant is not exactly the greatest album ever, but there are a few gems on it. I'm not even gonna talk about "Seven Nation Army" because like "Fell In Love With A Girl" the media has kind ruined it for me. But if it hasn't been ruined for you, you'd probably enjoy it. "Black Math" yes my friends, this song rules hardcore, Jack's voice has a shining moment in it and the speed adds to the radness of the song. "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" ok, so I don't really like the slow parts of the song, but when it gets faster I like to rock out. "In the Cold Cold Night" hmm... not exactly a fan, but Meg's voice is nice on it and it's cool that she finally sings. "The Hardest Button To Button" ah dude, this song owns! Just listen and rock, that's all you need to know. "Hypnotise" this song is so 60's pop reminicent and that's why I love it. Again, it makes me want to dance. "The Air Near My Fingers" great song, love the lyrics, and the subtlety. And that my friends is why I love the White Stripes and why I feel people are misguided or misinformed of what their music really is. WEBSITE www.whitestripes.com

I'd like to tell you about a little band I just completely adore. I "discovered" then waaaaay back in '01 so it's been a while. The Strokes are today's band of the day. They currently have two albums out, Is This It? and Room on Fire. I love Is This It, it's a great album. It's very vintage sounding and back to the basics rock. "Barely Legal" is really awesome, it's like the start of the song is ok but later it cuts to a different musical pattern kind of and it's just a really really cool part. "Someday" ah yes, I just plain love this song. "Last Night" hello, I mean first song I ever heard by them, so it holds a special place in my heart. "Hard to Explain" could be my favorite Strokes song, it's just so mellow and cool and flowing. "When it Started" very cool song that go me into another band called Arlo through a 'sounds like' station. "Take it or Leave It" is cool, Jule's voice gets all angry. (woah dude! Jules, you have the same nickname as Julian Casablanca) Room on Fire is a good album. But probably not my favorite or anything. "12:51" is very cool the music is so bouncy haha. "Under Control" sounds so old and rad. "I Can't Win" great, great music. Ok, well there you have it, my Strokes review. WEBSITE: www.thestrokes.com/index2.html

Band of the day is Grateful Dead. I'm not a major Dead Head, but Freaks and Geeks made me want to own American Beauty. Which is a sweet album! "Box of Rain" is a super fantabulous song that everyone should listen to. The whole thing is so mellow it makes me just wanna go lay by a stream and just clear my mind. Haha, that's probably weird... but true I guess. So uh I dont have a site or much more info than that, but Grateful Dead is my band of the day nontheless.

Band of the Day... hmmmmm Arlo! Ok, Arlo is a GREAT indie band that just effing rules. "Runnaround" is like their best song. My favorite line is "You know it's so attractive, to treat me like you do, I wouldn't take this torture, from anyone but you." Um, Stab the Unstoppable is an awesome album. They also have another album, Up High in the Night. The best song on there is "Nerf Bear Bonanza." I heard it like in summer of '01 from a Strokes soundalike station. Wow, it's really fun and slightly rockin. So if you want check them out, they rule. SITE www.subpop.com/bands/arlo/uphigh/

Well, Ang is officially my rock guitar hero. The other day she innocently told me to listen to Triple J's Hot 100. And I sluggishly clicked the link and listened. My ears had an orgasm! Haha, I've never heard such great selection. It was like either I knew and loved the song, or I didn't know the song but I loved it anyway. Go Australia, it effing rules!!! I think I need to live there just because of the music. So while I don't have a band of the day I have a internet radio station of the day. All I wanna do is spread the Triple J love. LISTEN - www.abc.net.au/triplej/listen/default.htm

Band of the day = Dresden Dolls... Oh man, so I just orded the CD because I'm so in love with them. I first heard "Coin-Operated Boy" a few days ago and I've heard a few other songs on their site. They rule! I'm like obsessed. It's a girl (Amanda) on piano and vocals and a guy (Brian) on drums. The songs are rad and just very cool. My favorite at the moment is "Good Day" because it has some personal significance today involving me, my crush, and a friend of mine I may perhaps like but am not quite sure. But yeah "Good Day" is like EXACTLY how a feel about my friend. So I find it rad. So if you wish visit the site, and give a listen. SITE: www.dresdendolls.com/main1.htm
