Since MandoRockin is oh so passionate about her favorite music, let's talk about it! Haha. What is it you're gonna talk about today Kelsey? Lol I am TRYING to annoy you, but seriously, you have good taste, the people will be interested. For example, everyone, yesterday she introduced me to Nirvana, and now I want their cd.

AWWWWWWWWW. I love you! Oh and Nirvana has a vast range of albums. For you I suggest Greatest Hits or Nevermind. Today's "Band of the Day" is......... The Cure! I talk of them often and quote their lyrics a lot. Jules has quite enjoyed some of them. I first got into them because on South Park Stan proclaims "Disintegration is the greatest album ever!" Hearing this I thought "Hmmm... really?" So I bought it a few months ago and WOW. Their music kicks ass. The earlier stuff is more punk a bit reminisent The Clash's album Sandinista, later it turned to more of an 80's pop thing. I often hear that era of their music on VH1 as backround and stuff "Just Like Heaven" is used a lot. I loooove that song, it's dorky but rad. And more recently they've taken a bit of a political edge. Their newest album is self titled and my favorite tracks on it are "Lost" and "Alt. Ending". OMG this is fun, I'm going to try post a "Band of the Day" every day and see if anyone checks them out. WEBSITE www.thecure.com

Can I give a Band Of The Day too? So there's 2? If so then McFly (not the weird version that wear checkered clothing, 4 boys reigning from merry old England). Check out their song Room On The 3rd Floor!

Uh... ooook... Anywho! I've pondered the band of today for a while today and I've decided whatever comes up on my iPod right now shall be it soooo... Cary Brothers I guess. He's not a band, he's just a guy. He has an amazing voice and brilliant lyrics. His song "Blue Eyes" is one I posted in the "Songs to Liam" thread. His voice is soothing and beautiful. I highly recomend giving him a whirl. WEBSITE www.carybrothers.com

Again the iPod method so today's band of the day is........ Mutual Admiration Society. Ok, so this is a "super group" that combines the ever amazing awe-inspiring talents of Nickel Creek (most definately a future band of the day) with the voice and song writing skills of Toad in the Wet Sprocket's Glenn Phillips. The only bummer about this album is Glenn is the only one who sings which blows because Chris Thile, Sean Watkins, and Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek) all have spectactual voices. I'd have to say my favorite songs on the album are "Sake of the World" and "La Lune." The song "Sake of the World" is more upbeat and has great lyrics like: I am barely aware when I talk to much / It's so easy for me to get out of touch / When I miss my part in the show / You'd be much better served if you'd let me go / There is something that you want me to be / It's impossible though can't you see / So for the sake of the world / Just forget about me." And the song "La Lune" is amazing, less for lyrics, more for sound and overall feel, the bass is amazing and the harmonica part towards the end is the climax of the song executed beautifully. They also cover Jon Brion's song "Trouble" on the album, it's a pity Glenn sings it, I saw Nickel Creek live and Sarah sang it; it was breath-takingly gorgeous. You're acting like a total journalist with your own music column, and it's cute.

It is like journalist ;D You should make a music magazine. LOL, thanks guys. I have various styles of writing. My kinda "proffesionalness" has come from AP English and the nazi who teaches it. I SHOULD have a magazine and interview Liam's band and he'll be like "But... we're not even famous.... we just play in the garage." And I'll be busted for just wanting to meet Liam. Oh I'll post today's band of the day in a while, gotta do some Geometry and English before I can ponder today's musical point of interest.

Band of the day for January 3rd, 2005 Badly Drawn Boy. Well kids, Badly Drawn Boy is a great artist. Now the only album I own by him is the "About a Boy" soundtrack, but wow! It's great, the music is sentimental and playful. My favorite song is "A Peak You Reach" [insert Jule's giggle here] anywho it's great, it's so catchy that you can't help but love it! "A Minor Inncident" is very very sad indeed, but gorgeous just the same. And finally "Delta (Little Boy Blue)" is an awesomely rad instrumental that is just sooo cool I want to play it and walk down the street like I own the place. Someday I'll put that song in a different movie, and the vibe will be made so cool by it that people will worship me. I jest, I jest, but for a good time call Badly Drawn Boy, or rather listen to him. WEBSITE www.badlydrawnboy.co.uk

Today's band of the day is The New Pornographers who came into my life via the Brendan Leonard Show. Oh I've heard of so many great bands from that short lived show. (I still exists online though.) The New Pornographers album that I own is "Electric Version" which happens to be the title of the first song I heard by them. It's excellent, quirky, and just plain fun. I'm listening to it right now, wow, very excellent! I've had this album since last summer but I never get tired of it. If I'm in a bad mood I put it on and it makes me smile, the sign of a great album. "Chump Change" excellent song, which ran behind a hilarious short of Brendan and Ryan talking about their favorite snack foods, oh how I wish those shorts were still online. I doubt anyone here is a BLS fan, but if you are speak up on how hilarious it was/is. And my favorite song on the album is "All For Swinging You Around" it's just catchy and makes me want to jump around my house and sing it. Perhaps because BLS aired in the summer or because I bought this summer, or maybe both, this album makes me think of summer. Just fun with nothing to tie you down. Which is a good feeling to relive in an hour or so of music. I'm going to post this, but I'm also going to go put links to all the bands I have featured official sites (if they have them.) The music was good, man. Now I'm gonna go listen to it - and watch BLS! Yippeeeeee. Why would they have cancelled that show? It rocked, dude.

I understand business. You're not applying for specialized high school programs, trying to fill out applications, ask teachers for recommendations, and finish all of your homework at once. Not saying that I'm necessarily busier than you are though.
Anyway, back to the off-topic topic we have started in the topic. What episodes of BLS do you like? For some reason, I really enjoyed just watching them do ridiculous jumps at the pool, and when they were hanging out at their old high school, and just really basic stuff like that. I've always been fascinated by other people's normal lives.

I love all things BLS. I have a Team Fresh shirt and a Boyling Point shirt and a Camp Jinx shirt. All show related things. The Boyling Point one is really funny because it kinda looks like a real band tour t shirt but the back has all the venues they played and it's like "Parking lot outside grocery store in Winetka" they're just really funny. My favorite was always when they painted Kevin C. Oh man, so funny. THey don't have the old shorts up on the site which sucks, because they are hilarious! But yeah the shows online are pretty good, but nothing like the orinigal show.
