Like I've said. Try as I might, I've never read anything in the ASOUE books. So being completely ignorant to anything in the movie, I'd like to know which books are portrayed in it. I'm guessing it's more than one because aren't there like a bazillion books in the series? Should I read the books the movie is based on before I see it? Annnnnnd finally, is the series ongoing, or has it ended?
I used to know these things in Middle School, but now that we don't have library day I have no idea what's going on. Infact we watched a short video on the series in 8th grade. I just never got around to reading them I guess. But I feel like it's time I should.

Well I've only read the first book and the first movie is based off the first three. I don't want to read all of them, because that is what i did with HP and i ended up disappionted because there was no suprise left when i saw the movie and there were things left out.
When i go see ASOUE I'll be totally suprised. I'll read the first three after (well, the second and third) the movie comes out.

Yeah, see I have two angles on this myself. When I saw the LOTR movies. I hadn't read Fellowship or Two Tower before I saw them and the surprise ruled. I did read Return of the King before seeing and I was bummed that I knew what was going to happen.
I've read every HP book at least ten times. And I wish I were kidding, but I'm not. However, in that case I've never even imagined what it would be like to not know what's going to happen.
Then there's also the fact that I'm a bad person and I think people who watch HP without reading it are like "cheating" in a way. I don't want to be "cheating" by never reading the books before seeing the film.
See, this is my dilema. I have had both good and bad experiences reading before watching.
And if I do infact decide to read, I have to go find the books, and read them fast. I wonder if the library is open on Saturdays...?

Well I don't think you're cheating ;D
I mean you'll probably read them eventually.

I've read them all. My favorite series, OF ALL TIME.
They are fabulous books, and I honestly don't think, if you read them, you'll be disspointed with the books or the movie.

Sweet! My friend came home from California, and even she's read them. Oh man, this just goes to show I am an evil, evil person and I should just give things an effing chance before judging them (i.e. LOTR and ASOUE) I've learned my lesson.
Bad news: my friend forgot the books. She says she'll bring them tommorw though. I know it's not a big deal I just really really want to start reading. I'll be getting my own on Saturday when we go Christmas Shopping in a town that actually has a bookstore. But I don't think I can wait that long.

I've read the first! Woo hoo! Ok, sorry, that is just exciting to me. I have the first three that I'm borrowing from a friend. Sunday I'm going to buy 4-? as many as possible starting at four. I'll get 1-3 eventually, the priority is the get the ones I need first.
BTW, I loved it! I can't believe what a horrible evil person I am for never reading them. People ask me at school "What are you reading?" and I show them and they ALL go "Oh! I read those in Middle School." It's like a big slap in the face, why did no one tell me to read them??? Or rather, why did I read two sentences of The Bad Begining then turn it back into the library? Oh well, what's done is done and I'm catching up.

Probably not. My friends aren't cool like that. Well if there's a miracle and it comes to my town, then yes they will see it. However I don't think it will come here. And I dont' think they'll be like me and go where we can actually see it. I'm sure some of you are from small towns so you understand what I mean when you drive two hours to buy cd's, clothes, or books. I mean it's not like it's far away. But it kinds sucks to have to drive somewhere else to see a freakin movie. Oh well, it'll be well worth it.

Sounds like you really enjoyed it. ;D I can't believe I{i] was so stupid to have gotten bored with the series early last year! I started up again at the beginning of this year and wonderered why and HOW on earth I could've ignored those books! They are amazing!

Ok so I finished The Wide Window last night. I'm reading them before bed because A. I don't have any other time and B. Reading before bed helps me sleep and I could really use some. Ok, so now that I'm on track with everything in the movie I'm happy.
More good news. I did infact go to a city with a bookstore today (might I add my favorite bookstore Barnes and Noble) and I got myself the box sets of books 4-6 and books 7-9 then I was out of any money I have. (which sucks dude, you see the books I borrowed from a friend say $9.95 on the back, and I get to the store and the price has totally been jacked up in the past few years to &11.99) Well, that threw my counting off a bit so I couldn't afford books 10 and 11. So my mom bought them for me. However they are Christmas presents so I guess I'll have to pace myself on reading them or I'll go insane knowing that 10 and 11 are in my house but I can't read them. So yes, I'm very very excited and hyper at the prospect of reading all these books. I'm looking at them right now, all neat and orderly on my computer desk. Ah to be in love with reading once more...

Update: I was reading one book a day. I got to The Vile Village on Thursday but still haven't finished it. Just because I've been super busy with stupid school things. That and it I read 7, 8, and 9 too fast I'll have to wait until Christmas for 10 and 11 so I'm trying to pace myself.
